Hi, I have been doing user testing for a reflowable EPUB 3 created for a project (exported from InDesign) and have received feedback on the links. The request is for the links to be navigable, in the same way as the headings are navigable.
I have checked the DAISY Accessible Publishing Knowledge Hub ‘links’ and ‘navigation’ pages and I cannot find the answer to how to do this. Each of the links in the book is embedded into unique, meaningful text and they are all live and working. Is there a step that I have missed, either in InDesign or while editing the EPUB?
Thanks in advance.

You want internal links to be hyperlinked? e.g. For more information visit apln.ca
That is done using the the hyperlink panel in InDesign. Basically just highlight the text, hit the plus in the hyperlink panel and then put in the destination. The live link will be exported to the epub. You can do this for internal links as well—you just have to add a text anchor as a destination.

Thanks b.keith – the internal and external links are already hyperlinked. The feedback that I received from the user tester was ‘improve on the links, just as the headings were navigable, make the links navigable too’.

Sorry. It’s not clear what you want. Can you define in which way headings are “navigable” that you want to match? They have a ToC so I suppose you could make a list of links like a LOI. Often (but not always) headings are backwards navigable— you could do that with internal links by adding text anchors at the destinations and a hyperlink back to the source (i.e. footnotes or glossed terms).
Can you clarify?
